LAST YEAR AT STANFORD: The 49ers tied for fourth place with Hawai'i at last year's Peg Barnard Invitational as LBSU shot a two-round total of 592 (289-303). Tournament host Stanford won the team championship by four shots as the Cardinal recorded a score of 572 (287-285). Redshirt senior Kay Hoey won the individual title by three shots as she finished with a 8-under par 134 (65-69). Senior Katy Barrett tied for 13th with a 148 (74-74) and Kira Murashige finished in 67th at 179 (87-92). Sophomore Brenda Chhuor recorded a 152 (75-77) as she finished tied for 30th.
EWART ON STANFORD AND OREGON INVITES: "It was nice to have Katy bounce back after struggling most of this spring. I know she's geared up for this tournament as the Stanford course is one of our favorites," said 49er Head Coach Sue Ewart. "Also encouraging was Brenda Chhuor's completion of the 36-18 hole format in Oregon. We were a little concerned if she could handle it physically after not playing for a couple of months. I think we should play well here as the girls are well rested from spring break and it looks like the weather should be perfect for a change."
BARRETT HAS SEASON BEST IN OREGON: Katy Barrett recorded her season best two weeks ago at the Oregon Duck Invitational as she shot a three-round total of 13-over par 229 (77-78-74) to finish tied for 16th place and was the top individual for The Beach. Barrett's play in Eugene was her second top-20 finish this season as she tied for 20th at the Heather Farr Invitational last October. Overall, this was her sixth top-20 completion in her 49er career.
McATEE'S STREAK ENDS IN OREGON: Lindsey McAtee's 79th place finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational more than two weeks ago ended her four tournament streak as the top individual for LBSU. McAtee had led the 49ers since late October at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and her season best performance at the Kitahara Fresno State Invitational in February as she shot a two-round total of 150 to tie for 20th place, marking her first top-20 finish. McAtee's best low round was also in Fresno as she shot a 3-under 69 as she led the field after the opening round.
