
Barrett Finishes With Season Best In Oregon

Eugene, Ore. - Long Beach State's Katy Barrett shot a two-over 74 in the final round of the Oregon Duck Invitational on Tuesday morning to finish tied for 16th place. Barrett moved up from 22nd after shooting and 77 and 78 the day before to mark her best finish this season. She previously had her season best at the Heather Farr Invitational in Colorado as she finished tied for 20th.
Reina Rogers recorded a one-over 73 on the last day to finish tied for 43rd. Rogers began the tournament tied for 60th as she shot an 87 in the opening round. Brenda Chhuor improved her play in the last two rounds as she moved in the standings from 64th to tie for 55th. Chhuor carded a four-over 76 in the final round to finish with a score of 244. Kylie Kimura improved three spots as she completed the tournament tied for 71st with a 251 and Lindsey McAtee finished in 79th.
Overall, the 49ers as a team, finished in 14th place with a score of 962 (327-330-305), six shots ahead of Oregon's "B" team. Host Oregon claimed the team title as the Ducks finished with a six-over 900, four strokes ahead of fellow Big West Conference member UC Davis. Oregon's Kendra Little won the individual medalist honors as she finished with a two-under 214.
"It was nice to see the girls come back with stronger scores today," said LBSU Head Coach Sue Ewart. "It was nice to have Brenda back and shoot a 76. It was also good to see Reina and Katy come back strong. Hopefully, we'll be back with a stronger performance for Stanford."
The 49ers will gear up for one more tournament before the Big West Championships as they travel up to Palo Alto on Apr. 11-12, for the Peg Barnard Invitational hosted by Stanford University.
