Long Beach, Calif. - Taking the time out to discuss offensive, defensive and rebounding philosophies, Long Beach State will host a coaching clinic on May 3 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Coaches of all levels are encouraged to attend the clinic.
With the added benefit of making connections within the community while discussing various coaching philosophies, the 49ers hope to provide an educational and fun day talking basketball. Lunch will be included along with a booklet of skills and drills.
Featuring head coach Mary Hegarty, all of the 49ers coaches will be present for the event, including Denise Curry, Nicole Anderson and Jason Flowers. All four had outstanding collegiate careers at UCLA, and are building a strong program at Long Beach State.
"All of the top teams at any level have something in common - they all play great defense and rebound consistently at both ends of the floor," said Hegarty. "That has nothing to do with talent or athleticism. It is all about work ethic, character, and the will of your team."
