Dirtbags Set to Host Wichita State This Weekend

LONG BEACH-- The No. 10-ranked Dirtbags (2-2) will host No. 20-ranked Wichita State (3-0) in a three-game series starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and continuing with a contest on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Andrew Liebel (0-0, 0.00) is slated to start on Friday against lefthander Rob Musgrave, after being named the Big West's Pitcher of the Year for the first time in his career and also as Inside Pitching.com's Regional Performance following an 11-strikeout performance against Rice.
On Saturday, RHP Vance Worley (0-0, 2.57) will counter fellow righthander Aaron Shafer (1-0, 1.50). On Sunday, freshman RHP Jacob Thompson (0-1, 1.50) will face an undetermined Shocker starter.
Wichita State has beaten Fordham (4-3), Northwestern-IA (10-1) and Emporia State (6-3) to start the season, while the Dirtbags took two of three from No. 6-ranked Rice last weekend and lost 5-3 to No. 17-ranked San Diego on Tuesday.
Wichita State is led by Dusty Coleman (.600) and Tyler Weber (.500), while reigning Big West Player of the Week Danny Espinosa is batting .533 with four doubles and a homer for The Beach.
