
Tennis Closes Competition At Fullerton Invitational

Fullerton, Calif. - Long Beach State finished the time at the Fullerton Invitational this weekend, as Deborah Armstrong and Julie Luzar earned the Flight B consolation doubles title.
Armstrong and Luzar reached the back draw finals with a 8-2 win over New Mexico State's Zuniger and Discordia, and then earned the championship when their finals opponents were forced to withdraw. In the team's other doubles action Rachel Manasse and Jessica Weeks were defeated 8-0 by Cal Poly's Blalock and Wong.
Competing the Flight B singles finals, Julie Luzar fell to Maria Malec of Cal Poly in three sets, taking the first set 6-2 before losing 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The 49ers will participate in one additional fall tournament heading down to San Diego for the ITA Regional Championships in two weeks. That tournament runs from Oct. 23 through Oct. 27.
