Haghdan Returns with a Flury
LONG BEACH—Sahar Haghdan returned to the starting lineup for the first time this season and assisted on both goals, as Long Beach State (7-4-0) rebounded after a tough loss on Friday, to defeat Wyoming (4-6-0) 2-0 on Sunday morning. The 49ers, the defending Big West Champions, start conference next week having won five of six. Haghdan, who played in just 137 minutes prior to today's start, played 52 minutes, assisting on Hayley Bolt's score from 15 yards out in the third minute and Kristen Kiefer's tally from five yards at 56:32. Haghdan, a first team All-Big West selection, had missed the first four matches with a leg injury, and started for an injured Kim Silos, who is day-to-day with an ankle injury. The 49ers outshot the Cowgirls 18-to-4, not allowing a second half shot. It was the team's fifth shutout of the season. The Beach are next in action when they travel to Pacific for a contest on Friday and are at UC Davis on Sunday. |
