49ers Finish 17th At Ptarmigan Fall Classic
Freshman Rogers Ties For 42nd Place

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- The 49er women's golf team finished in 17th place at the season-opening Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club. Long Beach shot a 317 in Tuesday's final round to finish with a three-round score of 945. California won the team title with an 868 while Washington State came in second at 887.

Individually, true freshman Reina Rogers tied for 42nd place in her first collegiate tournament. Rogers shot a 75 in the third round to finish 14-over at 230 (74-81-75). Senior Katy Barrett tied for 64th place with a 236 (72-79-85) and sophomore Brenda Chhuor tied for 70th place with a 237 (82-78-77). The overall individual winner was Cal's Shannon Yocum who shot a two-under 214 (73-71-70) for the tournament. She was the only golfer to shoot under-par out of 105 total golfers.

The 49ers will next be in action on October 1-1 when they compete at the Heather Farr Memorial Tournament at the Omni Interlocken Golf Course in Boulder, Colo.
