Heinz Headed to Nationals, Again

Heinz Named All-Region Again and Headed to NCAAs EUGENE, OR-- Kim Heinz is heading to her second-straight NCAA Championship, after finishing fourth for the second-straight time at the NCAA Regional, this time with a mark of 166'3". Heinz's tally is just three inches short of her school-record mark. Alex Shaw, who finished sixth, will wait for a possible at-large bid to the championship in Sacramento starting on June 6, posting a mark of 160'6" earlier this season, which was 27th nationally. Robert Jennings' finished 10th in the discus at 185'0", and also could be an at-large selection with the 23rd-best (187'10") national mark. Headed to Saturday's finals are Brent Gray, who did not have run on Friday with top-five regional marks in the 100 and 200-meter races, Jessica Branker, who finished fifth with a personal-best 11.72 in the 100-meter dash, Alex Goldberg in the 400-meters, Erricka Feazell in the 100-meter hurdles and the women's 4x100-meter relay team. The relay team finish fifth, with the top-three headed to nationals. |
