Hoey Wins Peg Barnard Championship
Beach Ties For 4th Place

STANFORD, CA-- The 49er women's golf team tied for fourth place at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate at the Stanford University Golf Course. But the big news of the day was that 49er junior Kay Hoey won the overall individual title. Hoey shot an eight-under 134 (65-69) to capture the championship, winning by three shots. Finishing second was Stanford's Lauren Todd who shot a 137 (70-67).

The tournament title is the third this season for Hoey. Earlier this year she won the Kitahara Fresno State Invitational on February 27 and she began the season by winning the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Ft. Collins, CO (Sept. 12).

Taking the overall team title was the host school, Stanford. The Cardinal shot a 285 in Saturday's second round to finish with a 572, four-over par. Denver came in second at 576 and Oregon State third with a 586. Hawaii tied for fourth with the 49ers with a 592.

49er Katy Barrett tied for 13th place overall after shooting a six-over 148 (74-74) and freshman Brenda Chhuor tied for 30th place with a 152 (75-77).

The 49ers will next be in action on April 23-24 when they compete at the Big West Conference Championships at Tijeras Creek Golf Course in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA.
