Former 49ers Honored by MPSF

MPSF Men's Volleyball 15th Anniversary Teams Announced
Four Former 49ers Earn Honors

WOODLAND, CA -- Four former 49ers were selected to the MPSF Men's Volleyball 15th Anniversary team as announced by Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Executive Director Al Beaird on Friday morning. The teams honor current and former players from the following institutions: BYU, Cal State Northridge, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Pepperdine, Stanford, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA and USC. The MPSF is celebrating its 15th year of competition in 2007-2008.

Brent Hilliard (1990-93), an outside hitter from Dana Point earned first team honors. Hilliard, a three-time All-American led the 49ers to its only NCAA Championship title in 1991. The 1992 National Player of the Year sits atop the school's career record books in kills (3,034) and kill average (7.12 kpg).

Tom Hoff (1995-96), a middle blocker from Parkridge, IL was selected to the All-MPSF 15th anniversary second team. In his two years at Long Beach State, Hoff was a two-time first team All-MPSF and first team All-America selection. He ranks in the top-10 in the 49er record books with 1,230 kills (ninth), 6.54 kills per game (second) and 1.65 blocks per game (second).

Dave McKienzie (1998-01), an opposite from Littleton, CO was selected to the third team. McKienzie was a two-time first team All-American and holds the single match record for kills with 58 against BYU (3/19/99). He also ranks in the top-10 all-time at Long Beach State with 1,641 kills (fifth) and 588 digs (10th).

Tyler Hildebrand (2003-06), a setter from Mesa, AZ was also named to the third team. Hildebrand was a three-time first team All-MPSF and All-America selection in his career at Long Beach State. He is currently the all-time assists leader with 6,324 and also ranks in the top-10 with 14.18 assists per game (fourth), a .421 hitting percentage (sixth), 625 digs (ninth) and 77 aces (tied for ninth).
