Jackson Cryst Earns Big West Freshman of the Week Honors

Cryst claims second weekly award after hitting .789 in Long Beach State’s 2-0 Big West sweep of No. 18 CSUN
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Freshman outside hitter Jackson Cryst earned Big West Player of the Week honors after a nearly flawless performance in No. 3 Long Beach State's 2-0 weekend sweep of No. 18 CSUN.
Cryst was hyper-efficient offensively, totaling 17 kills on just 19 swings for an exceptional .789 hitting percentage across eight sets. He opened the weekend with a dominant showing in the five-set road win, putting down 12 kills while hitting .846, then followed it up with five kills on .667 hitting in the straight-set victory at the LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid.
Beyond his scoring efficiency, Cryst impacted the match in multiple phases, contributing five total blocks and two service aces while providing steady play in key rotations. His ability to terminate at a high rate without errors gave the Beach a consistent offensive option and helped fuel a team attack percentage of .436 for the weekend.
Cryst's performance marks his second career weekly honor, having earned Defensive Player of the Week the week of January 12.
