Blalock Scores Big at UCLA's Meet WESTWOOD, CA--Nicole Blalock posted her first regional qualifying time of the year in the 1500-meter breaking her personal-best by four seconds and vaulting up the Long Beach State record book to No. 2 all-time following a first place finish at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invite on Friday night. Blalock's time of 4:27.01 fell just over a second short of the school-record. Senior Wolhan Ovalle had a personal-best 14:21.55 for fourth in the 5000-meter, which was seventh-best all-time, while freshman Missy Barclay also ran a personal-best of 4:37 in the 1500-meter race, while Meredith Kramon had a personal-best in the 5000-meter, just missing a regional qualifying time. Dylan Jaedtke (14:44) and Jason Bruton (14:57.10) also ran personal-bests in the 5K. The 49ers host the Vs Invitational on their home track on Saturday. |
