The two teams then battled back and forth before Pacific went on a 10-4 run to go up by six points (25-19). Thanks to Lotman's five kills late in game two the 49ers pulled out a 32-30 victory. LBSU held a four-point lead (24-20) late in the set, but saw it slip away as the Tigers came back to tie the game up at 26-26 after a kill by Seppanen. The 49ers were more effective on offense in game two as they hit .342, while holding the Tigers to a .214 clip. Long Beach State struggled late in game three as they fell 22-30.
