Leadoff Weekend Welcomes Players Back

Leadoff Weekend Begins Thursday LONG BEACH, CA-- The annual alumni weekend for the Dirtbag Baseball team will take place from Thursday thorugh Saturday beginning with the Leadoff Dinner on Thursday at the Long Beach Marriott starting at 6 p.m. with Angels rookie phenom and former National Player of the Year, Jered Weaver as the keynote speaker. The weekend continues with the the annual Alumni Golf Tournament at Old Rec Golf Course on Friday and the team's two alumni games on Saturday at Blair Field. The games at Blair Field will be at 11 a.m. for the old timers game and the current squad will take its hacks against the Pro Alumni at around 1 p.m. Those slated to attend the Pro Alumni Game will be Major Leaguers, Weaver, Abe Alvarez, Jason Vargas, Mike Gallo, Troy Tulowitzki, Bobby Crosby and Jeremy Reed and other professional prospects: Brett Andrade, Tim Hutting, Edgar Varela, Todd Jennings, Neil Jamison, Brian Anderson, Josh Alliston, Steve Hammond, Marco Estrada, Carlos Muniz, Evan Longoria, Jared Hughes, Kevin Randall, John Bowker, Cody Evans, Chris Demaria and Cesar Ramos. According to Baseball America the following former Dirtbags are amongst their team's respective top prospects (including rankings): Troy Tulowitzki (No. 1, COL), Evan Longoria (No. 2, TB), Steve Hammond (No. 7, MIL), Cesar Ramos (No. 10, SD), Drew Carpenter (No. 17, PHI), Paul McAnulty (No. 18, SD), Brian Anderson (No. 19, SF), Marco Estrada (No. 22, WSH), Jared Hughes (No. 29, PIT), Josh Alliston (HM, MIL), Abe Alvarez (HM, BOS), Neil Jamison (HM, SD), John Bowker (HM, SF), Brad Davis (HM, FLA), Adam Heether (HM, MIL), Todd Jennings (HM, SF).
