National Pole Vault Summit Opens Season

National Pole Vault Summit Summons Indoor Season LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State track and field will send six athletes to the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno on Saturday to start the 2007 indoor season. Among those competing are junior Jill Reynolds, the reigning Big West Champion in the event and senior Chris Richardson, a 2006 All-American and Big West Male Field Athlete of the Year in the decathlon. Reynolds has two of the top three marks all-time in the event, posting the No. 2 mark in LBSU history during the outdoor season (12'6") after ranking third all-time in the indoor pole vault (12'7.25"). Reynolds also had the top mark in the Big West Conference last season. Returning sophomore Jesse McLennan, who was a Big West qualifier, posted a mark of 15'3" which ranked in the conference's top-10. Richardson's best mark was 13'2.25", which he had at Nationals. Four newcomers, all reigning from the San Diego area, will round out the squad in: Cuyamaca Junior College transfer and junior Kara Filipowski, Cal State San Marcos transfer and sophomore Rebecca Adams and freshmen men, Drew Mann and Erik Haman. |
