Duo Headed to NCAA Championships PROVO, UT-- Kim Heinz and Emily Forsythe are headed to their first ever NCAA Championship in Sacramento after each finishing fourth at the NCAA Regional on Friday. Heinz, competing in her third-straight NCAA Regional javelin, earned her first all-regional honor after breaking her own school-record with a toss of 160'9". The two-time Big West Champion entered the meet ninth in the West and 28th nationally. Forsythe, a four-time All-Big West performer, who won the high jump this season at the conference meet to reach her third NCAA Regional, also earned her first All-Regional accolades with a jump of 5'7". The women currently sit in eighth place, one point out of sixth and behind regional-leader UCLA. Ed Cornell threw a personal-best in the discus with a personal-best 184'4", which puts him eighth on the 49ers all-time list. The regionals continue on Saturday. |
