Trio Shines at LB Invite

Trio Win at VS Athletics/Sprinco Long Beach Invite LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State's Kim Heinz and Tyler McCoy swept the javelin, while Mario Cobian took home his second individual title in two weeks in the 800-meter to highlight the 49ers at a rainy VS Athletics/Springco Long Beach Invitational on Friday. Heinz fell just nine inches off her own school-record, throwing 158'6", while McCoy threw 192'6". For Cobian, he ran 1:53.08. The 49ers also saw a personal-bests by: Alex Shaw in the javelin, to finish third (129'8"); Armond Goodin, who ran 14.56 in the 110-meter hurdles for second; and Jenessa Botello, who ran a best of 2:14.53 in the 800-meter for ninth place. Bethany Gardner ran a season-best 18:35.23 in the 5000-meter to finish fourth, while Kristina Price's shot put of 42'9.75" put her in third place. Robert Nelson (long jump) and Robert Jennings (hammer) each finished second in their respective events as well. |
