49ers In 15th Place at PING/ASU Invitational
Beach Tangles In Highly-Ranked Tournament

TEMPE, AZ-- The Long Beach State women's golf team, which is ranked No. 22 in the nation by both GolfWeek and Golfstat, is in 15th place after one round of the PING/Arizona State Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ. The 49ers shot a 311 in Friday's opening round. Arizona State, the number three ranked team in the nation, leads the team competition with a five-under 283. The PING/ASU Invitational is one of the toughest tournaments in the nation as all 16 teams are ranked in the top 59 teams in the nation. There are four Top 10 teams and 10 teams ranked in the Top 25 in the nation.

Leading the way for the 49ers was sophomore All-American Kay Hoey who is tied for 41st after shooting a four-over 76. Josefine Lindbergh and Katy Barrett are tied for 62nd at 78 and Hayley Wilkinson is tied for 67th with a 79. The overall individual leader is Arizona State's Tiffany Tavee who shot a six-under 66. Caney Hines, from the University of Texas, is in second with a four-under 68.

The tournament continues with 18 holes on Saturday and concludes with 18 holes on Sunday.
