Kramon Sets School-Record in 10,000-Meter PALO ALTO, CA-- Junior Meredith Kramon eyed the record and finally got it, breaking a 16-year old school-record in the 10,000-meter run at the 32nd annual Stanford Invitational on a cool, wet Friday. Kramon, who is competing in just her second-ever track season, previously had the second-fastest time at 36:11.61 set at last year's Cal-Nevada Championships. The all-conference cross country set the school-record in the 10K in the fall. Kramon broke a Jennifer Bessel's record (35:45.72) set in 1990. Ludi Valdez posted an NCAA Regional qualifier in the 5000-meter and had the second-fastest time in school-history with a time of 16:48.95. Jaime Cuthbert-Allen had two personal-bests today, won in the long jump (18'1.75"), in an event she won, and in the 100-meter hurdles (15.26). Both were conference qualifiers. Ed Cornell won the discus (165'6") and had a personal-best in the hammer (170'0"), while Jill Reynolds and Brendan Pena each finished third in the pole vault, dodging rain drops in the process. Reynolds had a mark of 11'6", while Pena's mark was a Big West qualifier and a personal-best at 15'1". Robert Jennings was second in hammer with a throw of 186'3". The Stanford Invitational continues on Saturday. |
