| WOMEN'S HOOPS FINISHES HOME SCHEDULE LONG BEACH – Long Beach State begins the week by playing their final home game of the season, hosting Cal State Fullerton on Thursday, Feb. 21. Tipoff for that game is at 7 p.m. in the Walter Pyramid. Following that, the team will travel to Cal State Northridge to face the winless Matadors. Full Story
WOMEN DROP ROAD GAME AT RIVERSIDE RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Taking on last season's Big West champions on the road, the 49ers struggled to find on offensive rhythm and fell to UC Riverside 67-39. The 49ers finished with 14 offensive rebounds, but were unable to convert them into points, shooting under 30 percent on the game. Full Story 49ERS FINISH NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE LONG BEACH – Long Beach State gets another shot at the conference's No. 2 team, UC Riverside on Wednesday as the 49ers head east to play in Riverside. CAMPBELL SPOILS LONG BEACH STATE COMEBACK LONG BEACH – In a contest eerily similar to the last time these teams met, Long Beach State fell on the short end of a defensive battle, losing 51-48. Jessica Campbell's baseline jumper gave the Aggies a three-point lead with 50 seconds to play, and Valeriya Musina's final attempt to tie came up just short in the 49er loss. Full Story
THINK PINK NIGHT ON FEBRUARY 9 LONG BEACH – The women's basketball team will host a Think Pink Night for Breast Cancer Research on February 9 against Pacific. The first 600 fans will receive t-shirts and 50 percent of the ticket sales will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. Call (562) 985-4949 for tickets. 49ERS PLAY HOST TO UC DAVIS, PACIFIC LONG BEACH – Having reached the halfway point in the conference schedule, Long Beach State begins their second time around the league by hosting two more Big West opponents this week. The team starts with UC Davis on Thursday night before taking on Pacific on Saturday in the Walter Pyramid. Full Story UC IRVINE TOPPLES 49ERS IN FIRST GAME OF RIVALRY LONG BEACH – Living up to its billing as the black-and-blue game, the 49ers ended up on the short end of a physical contest with UC Irvine 75-64. Karina Figueroa finished with 12 points, and Melanie Lisnock added 11 for the 49ers. Full Story 49ERS FALL SHORT LATE TO TITANS FULLERTON, Calif. – With a healthy Valeriya Musina returning to the lineup, the 49ers brought nearly a full roster to Cal State Fullerton, but the Titans responded with big games from Toni Thomas and Ashley Richie in a 75-66 win Saturday night. Long Beach State held close through most of the contest, but a Titans run with 5:00 to play finished off the 49ers chances. Full Story 49ERS TO PLAY TWO GAMES THIS WEEK LONG BEACH – Long Beach State returns to playing a regular conference schedule this week, facing off against Cal State Fullerton on the road Thursday before hosting UC Irvine at 4 p.m. Saturday, in the first half of a basketball doubleheader. WOMEN HOST CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE IN ONLY GAME THIS WEEK LONG BEACH – In a vagary of the conference schedule, Long Beach State continues their lightest stretch of the year with just one game for the second week in a row. This time, their opponent is winless Cal State Northridge. The Matadors make their way south to play the 49ers on Saturday, with tip coming at 5 p.m. Full Story RETURN OF FIGUEROA, JACOB NOT ENOUGH FOR 49ERS LONG BEACH – Long Beach State got a nice lift from the return of Karina Figueroa and Courtney Jacob, but didn't have an answer for UC Riverside's outside shooting in a 72-58 loss Saturday. The Highlanders hit nine three pointers, led by Roney Friend who was a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc. Full Story
BASKETBALL HOSTS UC RIVERSIDE ON SATURDAY LONG BEACH – Long Beach State opens a light stretch, as the team plays just two games over the next two weeks, hosting UC Riverside on January 19 before playing travel partner Cal State Northridge on January 26. Both games are set to tip at 5 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid. Full Story COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AT DAVIS DAVIS, Calif. – Down 49-42 with 2:31 to play, Long Beach State recovered for a final chance with the ball down 51-49 at the end of regulation, but was unable to convert in a loss on the road at Davis. Ally Wade, who hit a three-pointer to cut that final lead to two, led the 49ers with 15 points. Full Story
