49ers to Host Black and Gold Scrimmage

49ers to Host Annual Black and Gold Meet on Friday LONG BEACH, CA-- Long Beach State will host its annual Black and Gold Track and Field scrimmage on Friday, December 8 at the Jack Rose Track on the 49er campus. The event finishes off the fall practice schedule as the team returns to campus on January 8 to begin its indoor season, which runs through March 13. The outdoor season begins on March 3 and runs through the NCAA Championships in June. The scrimmage will also coincide with the Distance Carnival, which will be under the lights at the Jack Rose Track. The 49er men are coming off their first conference title in 25 years, while the women, after posting a third place finish and record 138 points, look to challenge for their first Big West title. The 49ers return two All-Americans for the 2007 season, including triple jumper Ronald Carter for the indoor season and decathlete Chris Richardson. Richardson, who won a gold medal competing for the U.S. this summer, was named the Big West's Field Athlete of the Year. 49ers also return seven conference champions
