South Dakota State jumped on The Beach right from the start of the contest and built a 9-0 lead before a Figueroa jumper ended the scoring run at the 17:42 mark. After a four minute scoring lull, the Jackrabbits pressured the 49ers into turning over the ball and quickly established a 16 point lead (34-18) with 3:17 left in the first half. SDSU held a 19 point lead at halftime, 41-22. SDSU outscored Long Beach State 44-19 in the second half.
