BOX SCORE

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA-- Long Beach State (11-2-1, 3-0-1) and host Cal Poly (7-5-1, 1-0-1) battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie in a very even Big West contest on Sunday afternoon. The 49ers left the central coast without allowing a goal, and remain in first place in the conference.

"I'm proud of the effort," said Head Coach Mauricio Ingrassia. We had a good effort defensively and had our chances today to win. Cal Poly is a tough team to beat at home and I'm glad to take home a point."

The 49ers have now posted 10 shutouts on the season, one away from the school-record they set last year.

"We showed a lot of character today. They call us the road warriors, playing so much on the road during the non-conference season, really prepared us to channel their crowd and work it to our advantage" said defender Tiffany Vaught who played all 200 minutes this weekend.

With the buzzer sounding to end the first overtime, Ashley Vallis desperation shot from 20 yards out was knocked out by Liz Ramos, one of seven saves by the 49er keeper. Cal Poly made a run at the goal midway through the second half taking two corner kicks. The Mustangs took four shots over the final 20 minutes of extra time.

Hayley Bolt twice had chances in the second half to give LBSU the lead, heading a shot off the bar in the 68th minute and having a shot caught in the 85th minute following two re-starts. Cal Poly's best opportunity came in the 68th minute when Heidi McQuitty's shot went off the cross bar following a re-start. After 90 minutes each team had seven shots.

The 49ers had one strong chance to score in the first half during the 20th minute. After a re-start, Hayley Bolt's low, line drive found eyes and hit off the near side bar, as the rebound went to Sahar Haghdan who's tip shot was saved by Alli Tramel. LBSU outshot Cal Poly 4-to-3 in a very even first half.

The 49ers return home on Wednesday to host Fresno State at 3 p.m. They are then off next weekend
