49ers Make it Two Straight with Haghdan
LONG BEACH, CA-- Sahar Haghdan (Palmdale) made up for a missed shot early in the first half with the eventual game-winner in the 79th minute, as Long Beach State (2-1-0) made it two-straight at home with a 1-0 victory over Idaho State. Haghdan was the benefactor of a rebounded shot by Nicole Cross (Cathedral City) and fired one home about five yards away, in traffic, from the left corner to give LBSU the lead. Liz Ramos (Bakersfield) picked up her second-straight win in goal, making one of her two saves moments later, as she stopped a potential game-tying goal by Jana Davis on the ensuing kickoff. The 49ers outshot ISU 14-to-2, incluidng 10-to-1 in the second half. The 49ers had a chance to go ahead in the 55th minute to a Katelyn Quaresma (Manteca), but a foul neglated the goal. Haghdan had a chance to put the 49ers on top in the 18th minute of the contest, but could not track down a Liz Romo (Whittier) pass that was scooped up by Bengal goalie Lyndsay Gensler. The 49ers continue its four-game homestand with the 49er Classic next weekend, featuring Hawaii and Weber State, with the classic kicking off next Thursday and running through Monday. |
