Cuthbert-Allen in Sixth After First Day IRVINE, CA-- Jaime Cuthbert-Allen is in sixth place in the heptathlon after the first day of the Big West Championships, just 26 points out of fifth place, as the championships enter its second day on Thursday. Sophomore Carmen Bourseau is in 10th place with 2149 points, while Tyson Gray is in 12th place in the decathlon with 2664 points. The bulk of the championships start Friday and continue on Saturday at UC Irvine. With 2768 points, Cuthbert-Allen finished tied for fifth in the high jump with a leap of 5'2.25", scoring 823 points, and was also fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.90 for 720 points. Cuthbert-Allen scored 724 points by finishing sixth in the 100-meter hurdles. The Beach are without defending heptathlon champion and 2004 Female Big West Athlete of the Year Ami Goldhammer, who suffered a season-ending knee injury prior to the start of the season. |
