49ers Cruise Past Pacific 74-48

49ers Crush Pacific, Hollans Impressive
LONG BEACH, CA-- Senior guard Aisha Hollans (Berkeley) broke out of a mini scoring slump in a big way, firing off 17 points, grabbing eight steals, dishing it off eight times and grabbing seven rebounds as Long Beach State (13-6, 8-3 Big West) cruised past visiting Pacific (5-14, 2-9 Big West) 74-48. Hollans led four 49ers in double digits, as Crystal McCutcheon (Lancaster) added 15 points and Petra Gläser (Amtsberg, Germany) had 14 points. Jeannie Saunders (Long Beach) scored 10 points off the bench. Pacific had nine points from Tyler Moran, as the Tigers shot 34 percent as a team. The 49ers countered with a 45 percent clip. The Beach led 40-14 at the half, holding the Tigers to just 24 percent shooting and forcing 17 first half turnovers by UOP. The 49ers shot 43 percent in the first half. LBSU had just three turnovers. Five straight points by Hollans made it 21-7 with 9:47 left, forcing a Pacific timeout and capping a 15-0 run by The Beach. LBSU ended the half on a 19-7 run. The Tigers actually opened the game up 7-6. The take to the road for four straight starting next week, when the 49ers travels to UC Riverside for a contest at 7 p.m. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
