49ers Win Fifth in a Row
Davis had one final comeback left him them as a Kimberly Smith three-pointer at 2:00 made it 61-57, but LBSU would convert 8-of-8 down the stretch from the charity stripe to put the contest away. Crystal McCutcheon scored a game-high 19 points, including 11 in the second half, while Petra Gläser added a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Smith countered with 18 points, while Lara Gray scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds. UCD shot 44 percent for the contest, but just 41 percent in the second half. LBSU countered with a 46 percent clip. Both halfs saw strong starts by The Beach, as they used identical 10-0 run in each half to take early leads only to see UCD come back each time. Two straight three-pointers the second by Jeannie Saunders at 13:02 gave LBSU a 41-35 lead. Moments later a Hollans driving layup made it 45-35 with 12:26 left, capping a 10-0 run to start the second half. The Aggies took a 29-22 lead at the half, breaking open up a 17-17 tie with seven minutes left with a 12-5 run to end the half. UCD actually used a 29-12 run to end the half after The Beach opened the game on a 10-0 run. LBSU shot just 36 percent, while the Aggies shot 50 percent.
