49ers Win Fourth in a Row
IRVINE, CA-- Long Beach State women's basektball (16-6, 11-3 Big West) cruised yet again, winning their fourth in a row with a 66-47 win over host UC Irvine (4-18, 3-11 Big West). Candice Wilson (Sacramento) fell two points shy of her career-high with a a season-best 20 points, while Crystal McCutcheon (Lancaster) added 18 points. It was the ninth time over the last 14 games opponents were held to 50 points or under, as The Beach have now won 12 of its last 14. Tonight's defensive pressure held UCI to a 32 percent clip from the floor, as LBSU shot 46 percent. Angie Ned led the Anteaters with 12 points, as LBSU outrebounded UCI 46-to-26. The 49ers led 34-19 at the half paced by a 54 percent clip from the floor. UCI was held to just 29 percent shooting. Wilson set her season-high in the first half with 14 points. Two quick layups by Wilson prior to the under-12:00 timeout gave LBSU a 15-7 lead to start with 11:41 remaining in the first half. UCI was held to just 10 points over the first 13 minutes as LBSU built a 23-10 lead. The 49ers end their four-game road trip at UC Davis on Monday.
