LBSU Races Past Montana State

BOZEMAN, MT -- The Long Beach State women's basketball team earned its first road win of the season, and fourth in a row, after an 83-66 decision at Montana State on Thursday night from the Worthington Arena. Rosalyn Omoruyi led The Beach (4-2) with a career-high 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and she pulled down eight rebounds in 27 minutes of action. Jayme Connors registered her second double-double of the season (10th of her career) with a season-high 18 points and 12 rebounds. Crystal McCutcheon poured in a season-high 20 points, including 4-of-9 from three-point range. Long Beach State shot a season-high 47 percent from the field (36-of-76). The 49ers out-rebounded the Bobcats, 52-34 (24 offensive rebounds). Scotta Morton had 18 points for Montana State in the losing effort. The Bobcats (0-6) shot just 30 percent from the field (16-of-53). Long Beach State jumped out to an 11-0 lead to start the game, and held a 20-6 lead on the Bobcats after a Mary Has three-pointer at the 12:29 mark. The Bobcats managed to cut the deficit to one point (32-33) after a three-pointer by Morton with 1:44 left in the half. But Long Beach State countered with a 10-0 run, on five consecutive layups, to end the half up by 11 (43-32). The 49ers opened the second half with two quick field goals and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second stanza, including their biggest lead (21) at 81-60.
