Drake Qualified for the 2005 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship

LONG BEACH, CA-- Men's golf coach Bob Livingstone announced the signing of Michael Drake (Riverside/Martin Luther King HS) to a National Letter of Intent.

Drake qualified for the 2005 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, where he missed advancing to match play in a playoff. He also shot a 6-under par 66 in the second round of the AJGA Family Motors tournament at Coto de Caza to take the second round lead, before ultimately finishing in a 12th place. Drake also finished 17th at the AJGA Hanmi Bank tournament at Black Gold GC in Yorba Linda, and had a second and a third place finish in JAGS Tour events.

"Michael is a really solid player," said Livingstone. "You have to have some game to qualify for the US Junior, and then to just miss Match Play against the cream of the national junior crop is pretty darn good. Michael can also be explosive, as shown by that 66 he shot at Coto de Caza; that is really impressive golf."
