Hollans Named Big West Player of the Week

Hollans Earns First Big West POW Honor IRVINE, CA-- Senior guard Aisha Hollans (Berkeley, CA) helped Long Beach State into first place and in doing so was named the Big West Conference's Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The senior averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game last week in wins at Pacific and at CS Northridge. On the year, Hollans, who transferred from USC after three seasons as a starter, is averaging a team-best 17.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for the 49ers this season. Hollans scored an LBSU-best 24 points in the win over the Matadors on Saturday night, after tallying her fifth-straight double-double on last Thursday at UOP. The 49ers begin a four-game homestand on Thursday when they host CS Fullerton in a contest at 7:30 p.m. LBSU (7-4, 3-1 Big West), winners of three straight, moved into a tied for first place on Saturday with CS Northridge and UC Santa Barbara. It is the third time this season LBSU has player of the week honors, as Crystal McCutcheon has already been named the conference's top player twice this season. |
