49ers Finish In 5th Place At Western Intercollegiate
Brett Lederer Finishes In 2nd Place

SANTA CRUZ, CA--The 49er men's golf team finished in 5th place at the 58th Annual Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz. The 49ers shot a three-round score of 864 (288-282-294). Colorado won the team title with an 852 and California came in second at 854.

Individually, redshirt freshman Brett Lederer finished in second place with a two-under-par 208 (69-71-68), the best finish of any 49er men's golfer this year. Colorado's Kane Webber won the individual title with a four-under-par 206 (71-67-68). Lederer's 208 is his best score of the year, beating his previous score of 210 (65-68-77) at the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club on November 6-7 where he tied for fifth place. 49er senior Torey Edwards finished tied for 14th place with a 215 (74-66-75) along with fellow 49er Jeremy Keller (69-72-74).

"We played very well overall," said Head Coach Bob Livingstone. "We beat a lot of playoff teams and this gives us a lot of confidence heading into the stretch part of our season. Brett (Lederer) had an excellent performance, especially for someone who has never seen this golf course before."

The 49ers will next be in action March 29-30 when they compete at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational in Turlock, CA.
