Beach Win First Leg of the Trip

49ers Win First Leg of Out of State Trip LOGAN, UT-- The Long Beach State women's basketball team (11-13, 7-8 Big West) were able to overcome a three-point halftime deficit behind a 63% clip in the second half, to defeat host Utah State (4-20, 4-12 Big West) 64-57 on Thursday evening. Jayme Connors and Christina Mack had 13 points a piece, while Lauren Bull added a career-best 10 rebounds. LBSU shot 41% of the game after hitting just a quarter of its shots in the first half as USU took a 28-25 lead. LBSU opened up the second half on a 8-3 run, leading 33-31, before USU regained the lead at 36-35 on a free throw by Ali Aird. However, LBSU scored the game's next eight points and USU never got closer than four points the rest of the way. Aird led the Aggies with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Christina Zdenek added 16 points. USU shot just 32% for the game. The 49ers travel to Idaho in their final road game of the regular season on Saturday at 7 p.m. |
