USC Transfer Commits to Beach Starting Guard Hollans to be Eligible for 2004-05
AUGUST 20, 2003
LONG BEACH, CA-- Head Women's Basketball Coach Mary Hegarty added another piece to the arsenal for 2004-05, as Aisha Hollans (Berkeley, CA), a three-year starting guard at USC, has signed a financial aid agreement to come to Long Beach State. She will be eligible for one year after redshirting in 2003-04.
Hollans along with Colorado State guard Val Willhoit, a former All-State selection, have both transferred to LBSU since Hegarty was hired in late April.
Hollans averaged 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in her career for the Trojans, earning first team All-Pacific 10 honors after the 2001-02 season.
"Aisha is really eager to take advantage of this fresh start at The Beach," said Hegarty on Hollans, who was dismissed from USC, according to the team's website, for infractions of team policies. "I am confident that she will make a tremendously strong and positive impact to this program."
Hollans came out of Berkeley High School as one of the nation's top-25 recruits who tallied over 2500 points and 1450 rebounds in her career as a prep All-American. Hollans followed that up with by averaging 12.0 ppg as a freshman, 17.6 ppg as a sophomore and a 12.5 ppg last year. |
