| SENIOR TRIO HEAD TO IOWA, THROWERS HEAD SOUTH
Iwuaba, Lee, and Loebl to Compete in Drake Relays, Throwers Compete at UC San Diego Open April 23, 2003 LONG BEACH, CA -- A trio of seniors including Gladys Iwuaba (San Diego, CA), Christina Lee (Burbank, CA), and Cory Loebl (Portland, OR) will travel to Des Moines, Iowa this weekend to compete in the Drake Relays. All three athletes are regional qualifiers in their respective events; Iwuaba in the triple jump (40'09.50"), Lee in the pole vault (12'00.00"), and Loebl in the discus (186'02.00"). The throws squad will travel to UC San Diego to compete in the UC San Diego Open Friday through Saturday. The hammer competition will take place on Friday, with the remainder of the meet on Saturday. Cory Loebl will compete Friday at Drake Relays in the discus, then fly home, and travel to San Diego to compete Saturday in the discus. The San Diego meet is notorious for producing tremendous marks in the discus, and the entire throws squad is looking to come out of the meet with some great marks. Loren Childers (Snohomish, WA) and Daniel Estrella (Long Beach, CA) will be the sole distance runners representing The Beach at the San Diego Open this weekend. |
