Track Announces 2004 Signees to Letters of Intent LONG BEACH, CA--The Beach track and field team has announced the signing of two athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2004-2005 year. They are Patrice White of Altadena, CA and Eddie Cornell from Ridgecrest, CA. White is now a student at John Muir High School in Pasadena after transfering from A.B. Miller High School in Fontana for her senior year. She was the league champion in the 100m and 200m races in 2002 and 2003. White was also a CIF Southern Section Finals qualifier in 2002 and 2003 for the 100m and 200m races. Her career bests are 12.16 in the 100m, 24.96 in the 200m, and 57.2h in the 400m. Eddie Cornell is a shot put and discus thrower from Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, CA. Cornell is projected to be a first-team all-state selection after a strong junior season in which he improved to 49'1" in the shot put and 175'5" in the discus. Cornell won the CIF Southern Section Division III championship in the discus in 2002 and finished second in 2003 at the same meet. He is a three-time league champion in the discus, as well as a two-time league champion in the shot put. Cornell was also a member of the USA National Team that competed at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Sherbrooke, Canada. |
