Davis a First Teamer, Jamison & Weaver
Honorable Mention
TUCSON, AZ-- While their teammates were getting drafted, Long
Beach State freshmen catcher Brad Davis (Mission Viejo) and
RHPs Jered Weaver (Simi Valley) and Neil Jamison (San Diego)
were named Freshmen All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball.
Davis was selected to the first team, while Weaver and Jamison
earned honorable mention accolades.
Davis, who began the year as a backup, moved into the starting
lineup early after injuries depleted the Dirtbag lineup. Davis
earned honorable mention All-Big West honors and ended the
season batting .317 in 45 starts. Davis drove in 20 runs and
scored 26 times.
Weaver went 8-4 with a 4.37 ERA over 92.2 innings in his
first season as opponents batted just .230 against him. Weaver
cemented his season with a win over CS Fullerton in the NCAA
Regionals, pitching seven shutout innings in eliminating the
Titans. Jamison had a 2.70 ERA in 22 apperances from the bullpen,
as opponents batted just .241 against him.
The trio helped The Beach lead the Big West and rank amongst
the nation’s leaders with a 3.54 ERA.
