| WOMEN'S HOOPS FALL TO LMU 58-50

LOS ANGELES, CA — Long Beach State (2-5) suffered its fifth loss of the season to Loyola Marymount University (5-1), 58-50, in a game Saturday night at LMU. The 49ers are next in action as they host the Beach Classic Tournament Friday, December20 to Saturday December, 21 at The Pyramid. Loyola Marymount went on a 16-2 run to take-over the lead in the second half, 51-45, at the 4:36 mark. Long Beach State battled back to 51-50 with 1:53 left after field goals by Candice Wilson and CeCe Rush, but the Lions proved to be too much as they went on a final 7-0 run to cap off the victory. Leading scorers for The Beach were Wilson with 14 and Glory Johnson with 12, while Rush led the team with 11 rebounds and chipped in five points. Jennifer Baker picked 10 rebounds and put up six points, while Rush had a career-best 11 rebounds. Both teams shot 33% from the field. The Lions were led by Mary Turner with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jennifer Henry and Adrianne Slaughter each had ten and 11 rebounds respectively. Claudine Auld added in nine points in the victory. LBSU played without third leading scorer, Jayme Connors, who is out indefinately with a small fracture to her left ankle, while LMU's leading scorer, Kate Murray is out for the season with an ACL injury. The 49ers started the second half on an 8-2 run to lead 35-25, with 16:54 left to play. LMU roared back on a 9-2 run to bring the game within two points, 43-41, with 10:14 left.
