Strong Showing at Black & Gold Intersquad Meet

Black & Gold Produces Strong Results December 9, 2001 Leading the charge for The Beach on the men's side Jon O'Neil and Cory Loebel, while on the women's side it was Connie Jerz, Serena Boykin and Stephanie Sampson. Though all results are "unofficial" for the actual LBSU record books, O'Neil tossed a shot put 57'11, a discus 177'8, a javelin 187'8 and a hammer 182'6, all intersquad records. For Loebel he tossed a shot put 56'3, a discus 166'6, and a hammer 171'7 all second to O'Neil's marks. On the track side, Jamaal James broke conference champion Kashus Perona's 300-meter time with a 33.6 second time, while Arturo Garcia raced a school-record 4:28.3, 1600-meter time. On the women's side, NCAA qualifier Connie Jerz broke her own mark of last year in the pole vault with a 12'2.50" height, while Emily Forsythe jumped a 5'6" in the high jump, both intersquad records. In the shot put, Boykin heaved a 45'4" distance in the shot put, while Stephanie Sampson tossed a record toss of 164'10" in the hammer throw. | ||||||||||||||||||
