A four-time All-American, Cross-Battle was the NCAA Player of the Year in 1988 and 1989. When she graduated she had recorded more kills (2767) than any man or woman in NCAA history. She is the holder of nearly every Long Beach State record and set the standard for those to follow. She was a part of the 49ers first NCAA Division-I Championship team in 1989 and was named one of the six greatest players of all-time in 2001. She concluded her stellar carer with 2767 kills, the third-most in NCAA history, along with a record-setting 5694 attempts, and 1578 digs. She also had the top three single-season kill marks, including the 12th-highest in NCAA history, 779, during the championship run in 1989. Her .344 attack percentage also ranks in the top-10 all-time. In 2004, Cross-Battle became the first athlete (male or female) in USA Volleyball history to be named to four Olympic teams.
