Margaret Mohr was the point guard for some of Long Beach State's finest women's basketball teams in school history, starting for the 49ers during the team's first NCAA Final Four run during the 1986-87 season. Mohr started all 36 games for the 49ers that season, as Long Beach State went 33-3 and finished ranked No. 4 in the nation. Mohr averaged four assists per game, making 145 total while earning All-NCAA West Region honors.
During that season, Mohr helped the 49ers set a number of NCAA Records. Cindy Brown's 974 total points ranks as the second-highest NCAA total still, and Brown had double-digit points in every single game the 49ers played, while finishing 31 with 20 or more points. Under her leadership, the 1986-87 49ers averaged 95.8 points per game, which set an NCAA record and still stands as the second-highest single-season scoring average in NCAA history. Long Beach State's 15 games of scoring 100 points or more still stands as the NCAA Division I record.
Mohr's 448 career assists stand as Long Beach State's ninth-highest total, while her 182 assists in the 1985-86 season stand as the fourth-highest total in the 49er record books.
Following her career at Long Beach State, Mohr has spent 13 seasons as the head coach at Cypress College, where she has led the Chargers to one state championship as well as a run of seven consecutive postseason appearances.
