Dick Degen

A two-way player for the 49ers in 1963-64, playing fullback and defensive end, Degen earned alll-conference honors at both positions, and was named the Team’s Outstanding Defensive Player as well. He went on to play two seasons for the San Diego Chargers, and was named the Chargers’ “Rookie of the Year” in 1965. Degen taught for over three decads as a P.E. Instructor at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, where he coached track, cross-country and wrestling, and served as a football assistant. Degen is the 16th 49er football player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
