Jaide Stepter has been promoted to serving as Long Beach State’s Director of Operations, and will begin in that capacity during the 2019-20 academic year.
Stepter, a nine-time All-American and team captain at USC, began her collegiate coaching career at Long Beach State as a Volunteer Assistant Coach with the sprinters following the conclusion of her time with the Women of Troy.
Stepter comes to the Beach after competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 400m in which she placed ninth as a semifinalist and in the 400m hurdles where she finished seventh as a finalist with a new personal best time of 54.95.
A representative for Team USA at the San Salvador NACAC U23 Championships, Stepter placed second in the 400m and helped her relay team capture first in the 4x400m relay. She also competed in two Diamond League meets to finish fifth place in London and seventh in Brussels. Stepter ended the season ranked eighth in the 400m hurdles in the U.S. by Track & Field News.
While a student-athlete at USC, Stepter set five school records in the 400m hurdles, 400m outdoor and indoor, as well as the 4x400m relay in both the outdoor and indoor seasons. She is a three-time Pac-12 champion in the 400m hurdles and was selected as the Pac-12 Women's Track & Field Scholar Athlete of the Year. Stepter completed her collegiate career at the NCAA Championships placing sixth in the 400m hurdles and was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Women's Track & Field Third Team.
She prepped Canyon del Oro High in Oro Valley, Ariz., where she set the Arizona High School State record in the 300 meter hurdles and was selected as the Gatorade Arizona Female Athlete of the Year.
Stepter graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in communications and a minor in Animation and Digital Arts.
