Janisa Johnson will complete her degree with Long Beach State while serving as the team's first undergraduate assistant coach in 2013.

A tremendous all-around player, Johnson finished four seasons with the 49ers and ranks sixth in school history in career digs, making 1,196 while primarily playing as an outside hitter. Johnson also made 962 kills, averaging 2.79 per set over an outstanding career. A first-team All-Big West selection as a senior, Johnson also was a National Player of the Week and averaged 3.47 digs per set in her career.

Johnson also transitioned into a very good sand volleyball player, posting a 21-0 overall record during the 2013 season, and won a match with Tyler Jackson in the national finals, helping the 49ers win their first Sand Volleyball National Championship last year in Gulf Shores, Ala. with a 3-2 win over Pepperdine.

Johnson has assisted with head coach Brian Gimmillaro's volleyball camps for the last four years, and will assist in the coaching of both the hitters and the back-row players.
