Former Long Beach State and professional men's volleyball player, Paul Muñoz made his return to the Beach in 2017 as he was named statistical coordinator.

Muñoz brings 10 years of experience coaching volleyball players on both the high school and collegiate levels. The owner of a successful indoor and beach club volleyball program, Muñoz will run the Data Volley program for Long Beach State, as well as assist in the development and coaching of student-athletes.

Prior to his hiring at Long Beach State, Muñoz worked at Golden West College as the head men's volleyball coach, assistant women's volleyball coach, and assistant women's sand coach. He has also been running his club volleyball program, Ohana Athletic Club, since 2009.

A former boys and girls volleyball head coach at the high school level, Muñoz coached at both Marina High School and Estancia High School.

In addition to his extensive coaching resume, Muñoz is a decorated volleyball player in his own right as he served as a Libero for the USA Men's National Team from 2005-09. He also played for the S.L. Benfica Men's Volleyball team in Lisbon, Portugal, the Gigantes Men's Volleyball Team in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and the Lamia Men's Volleyball Team in Lamia, Greece.

Muñoz played in the World Club Championships with the USA Team in Qatar in 2011. Additionally, he was a part of the USA Men's National Team from 2005-08 and competed at the World University Games in Izmir, Turkey.

He played volleyball at Mater Dei High School where he helped lead the team to the CIF Finals in 2000 and 2001. Following his graduation from high school, Muñoz went on to play for the Junior National Team in 2001-02 where he earned a Bronze Medal.

A two-time All-MPSF Honorable Mention selection, Muñoz played at Long Beach State from 2002-05 and was an integral part of the 2004 squad that made a run to the National Championship game. He led the Beach in digs in 2004 and 2005 as he averaged 1.99 and 2.19 digs per set, respectively.

Muñoz graduated from Long Beach State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 2007 and earned his Master's Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif.
