Marc Gerst enters his second season as an assistant coach with Long Beach State after helping lead the team to a Big West Championship and an NCAA Regional appearance in 2023-24.
Gerst is a recent graduate of Aquinas College in Grand Rapid, Mich., where he was a member of the men’s golf team. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in business administration, and is currently working on his Level 1 classification via PGA America.
He comes to Long Beach State after spending the last year as an assistant golf professional at the University of Texas Golf Club where he provided golf instruction and coaching to players of all skill levels. During that time, he helped develop and implement customized training programs to improve players’ skills, while focusing on swing mechanics, course management, and mental game strategies.
Gerst also gained experience as a golf professional during his college years as he was an intern at Kent Country Club in Grand Rapids, Mich. In that role, he assisted in managing daily golf operations.
