Madi Maxwell Named Big West Defensive Player Of The Week

Maxwell helped extend the Women’s Volleyball winning streak to 10 with a pair of road wins to open Big West play.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Junior setter Madi Maxwell added to her growing list of accolades with Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping Long Beach State to a pair of road wins to open conference play last weekend.
Long Beach State now has a 10-match winning streak, its longest since 2014, and Maxwell recorded 13 blocks, 28 digs, 9 kills, and 46 assists in the conference-opening victories.
Maxwell, a preseason All-Big West selection, registered 5 blocks and a team-high 11 digs in the sweep at UC Irvine, helping limit the 'Eaters to a -.034 hitting percentage while guiding the Beach offense to a .265 team hitting percentage.
To wrap up the week, Maxwell tied her career-high with 8 blocks and added a team-high 17 digs in a 4-set win over UC San Diego, helping the Beach to a season-best total in team blocks (3 solo, 31 assist).
Maxwell, who was the Big West Setter of the Week on September 7 and 14, collects conference honors for the third time this season with her first Big West Defensive Player of the Week award. The junior has collected eight total Big West weekly honors in her three seasons at Long Beach State.
