Long Beach State Women's Basketball Signs Lucia Chico Fernandez To 2026-27 Class

The Beach has added championship pedigree and international experience to its 2026-27 class with the signing of Spanish guard Lucia Chico Fernandez

Fernandez joins Long Beach State after completing her entire developmental career with Club Baloncesto Araba, where she helped establish one of the most successful youth resumes in the Basque region. During her time with CB Araba, she was part of four consecutive Basque Championship teams, helping the club qualify for four Spanish Club Championships at the U14, U16, and U18 levels.
A product of Spain's highly competitive regional development system, Fernandez represented the Alava Regional Team throughout her youth career while also earning regular selection to the Basque Country National Team. She competed in three Spanish Autonomous Communities Championships, gaining valuable experience against many of the top young players in the country.
Most recently, Fernandez helped CB Araba capture the 2024-25 Junior Basque League championship and advance to the Spanish Club Championship in Huelva. She also contributed to Alava's EUSNAF24 tournament championship run. Earlier in her career, she helped lead CB Araba to consecutive Basque U16 championships and appearances at the Spanish Club Championships in Guadalajara and Santiago de Compostela. Throughout her development, Fernandez consistently competed in high-level regional and national events, building a reputation as a dependable contributor on successful teams.
