Long Beach State Places Five On Big West Winter All-Academic Team

Women’s basketball quintet recognized for excellence in the classroom during 2025-26 season
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State placed five student-athletes on the 2025-26 Big West Winter Academic All-Conference Team, the conference office announced.
Representing the Beach from women's basketball were JaQuoia Jones-Brown, Kennan Ka (4.00 GPA), Christy Reynoso, Tairat Samuel-Afolabi, and Haley Wright.
Jones-Brown and Reynoso, both communications majors, earned recognition in their sophomore seasons, while Samuel-Afolabi and Wright added honors as psychology majors. Ka, a graduate student pursuing an MBA, rounded out the group.
To be eligible for Big West All-Academic honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, have completed at least one full academic year at their institution, and competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
Long Beach State's five selections came from a women's basketball contingent that featured 49 honorees across the conference, highlighting both academic achievement and competitive commitment during the winter season.
