LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State freshman opposite Wojciech Gajek has been named Big West Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced, after leading the Beach offensively in a two-match series against Hawaii.
Gajek, who previously earned the honor on March 2, delivered a dominant all-around performance across both matches, totaling 38 kills while hitting .375 and averaging 4.75 kills per set. He accounted for a team-high 43.0 points (5.38/set).
In the five-set match, Gajek recorded a match-high 22 kills on .381 hitting, adding 2 service aces and 8 digs while carrying a heavy offensive load on 42 swings. He followed that performance with 16 kills on .367 hitting in the second match, again leading all players in kills despite the three-set result.
Beyond his scoring output, Gajek contributed across phases with 13 total digs (1.63/set) and 3 service aces, showcasing six-rotation value and consistency against a high-level opponent. His efficiency remained steady across both matches despite high volume, reinforcing his role as the focal point of the Beach offense.
He currently ranks ninth overall in the Big West in hitting percentage (.324), fourth in service aces per set (0.48) and eighth in Big West play in points per set (3.45) placing him among the conference's most productive and efficient attackers.
